9:30am- 5:30pm Opening of the Shelburne County Lobster History Exhibit

Learn about the history of Shelburne County’s lobster industry with this first-ever exhibit. Special children’s exhibit by Hillcrest Grade 2 class. Shelburne County Museum, 875-6709.

 

10am start  Lobster Loop Hike – starting and finishing from Lockeport Rec. Centre, 10 Spruce St., Lockeport.  Join us for a walk around a lobster shaped route through the community and enjoy a lobster sandwich along the way. 656-2565

 

12:00-9:00 PM – Lobster Expo & Market – Barrington Arena – phone Suzy at 637-8166 to book a booth space – $3 admission – 12 & under free

4:00-6:00 pm Creamed Lobster Supper – Sandy Point Lighthouse Community Centre, Sandy Point. 875-2229.

7:00 pm – 1st Annual Little Miss Lobsterfest Pageant – Clark’s Harbour Legion – contestants age 7-12.

Learn about the history of Shelburne County’s lobster industry with this first-ever exhibit. Special children’s exhibit by Hillcrest Grade 2 class. Shelburne County Museum, 875-6709.

10am-5:00pm    Launch of “The Voices and Faces of the Eastern Shelburne County Lobster Industry” Video  – Interested in hearing the voices of the most important industry in Shelburne County?  Come watch this 10-minute video that was made as part of the Activating Change Together for Community Food Security research project.  Over 15 interviews were conducted and turned into an informative, thought-provoking short video.  The video will run throughout the day, with conversation and questions taking place after each viewing.  Shelburne County Museum.  For more information contact Sheila Bird at x2013gts@stfx.ca or 874-2145.

6:30pm-7:30pm – Fisheries and Tourism Research Update – Shandel Brown and Saveena Patara share the results of interviews they conducted last summer with mainly lobster fishers and tourism operators. Theme: environmental, social and economic change on the South Shore.  Enjoy refreshments, including lobster sushi. Shelburne County Museum, 875-3219.
